Explore global politics through tutorial-style seminars of up to 10, tackling diplomacy, conflict, climate policy and human rights. Shape discussions around your interests, complete independent essays or problem sheets and hear from expert speakers. You’ll receive tutor feedback and a personalised recommendation letter.
Atlas Summer Courses’ International Relations summer school is designed for ambitious 16-17-year-olds who want to explore how global politics works in practice. Hosted at colleges of the University of Oxford, the programme looks at the forces shaping international affairs, including nationalism, diplomacy, conflict, security, climate policy, human rights and the role of states and international organisations.
Teaching is delivered in a tutorial-style format, with small seminars of up to 10 students and personalised tutorial feedback. Students complete independent work such as essays or problem sheets, take part in tutorial Q&A sessions, hear from expert speakers, and join academic skills sessions.
The course is tailored to the group’s interests rather than following a fixed curriculum, making it highly interactive and discussion-led.
Beyond the classroom, students experience life in Oxford through cultural activities, visits around the city, and a university fair to help them explore future pathways. They receive a certificate on completion, detailed tutor feedback and a personalised letter of recommendation, alongside support from on-site staff throughout their stay.
