At colleges of the University of Oxford, 13-15-year-olds explore classic and contemporary texts and develop their own voice through fiction, poetry, character creation and close reading. Small classes with expert tutors make space for debate, group work and independent research.
Atlas Summer Courses’ English Literature and Creative Writing summer school is an academic enrichment programme for ambitious 13 to 15-year-olds who want to deepen their reading and writing skills. Hosted at colleges of the University of Oxford, the course explores classic and contemporary texts while helping students develop their own voice through fiction, poetry, character creation and close reading.
It is designed to be engaging, personalised and discussion-led, with teaching shaped around the interests of the group rather than a fixed curriculum.
Students learn in small classes with expert tutors, giving them plenty of opportunity to ask questions, debate ideas and take part in group work, independent research and creative writing tasks. The programme also includes sessions focused on transferable skills such as teamwork and debating, alongside reflection time to review personal goals and progress.
A supportive social and cultural experience runs alongside the academic side of the course, with meals, accommodation options and support varying by package.
