Study climate change, biodiversity and sustainability in tutorial-led groups of up to 10 at Oxford colleges. Shape learning around your group’s interests, get detailed feedback on independent work, and finish with a certificate and personalised letter of recommendation.
Atlas Summer Courses’ Environmental Science summer school is designed for ambitious 16-17-year-olds who want to explore how science can help address major environmental challenges. Hosted at colleges of the University of Oxford, the programme brings students together in small classes to study topics such as climate change, pollution, sustainability, ecosystems, biodiversity and the political and economic context of environmental issues.
Teaching is tutorial-led and highly interactive, with up to 10 students in a group. The course includes tutorial Q&A sessions, an academic skills masterclass, expert speakers and visits to different Oxford colleges.
Students also have the chance to attend a university fair, helping them think about future study and career pathways.
The course is tailored to the interests of the group rather than following a fixed curriculum, so learning stays relevant and engaging. Students complete independent work and receive detailed feedback from their tutor.
On completion, they are awarded a certificate and a personalised letter of recommendation, alongside a richer understanding of environmental science and their role in a more sustainable future.
