Atlas Summer Courses’ English Literature summer school is designed for ambitious 16-17-year-olds who want to deepen their understanding of literary texts, themes and writing. Hosted at Oxford University colleges, the programme uses small classes and a tutorial-style approach to help students strengthen close reading, analytical writing and critical thinking.
Learners study writers such as William Wordsworth, George Eliot, Virginia Woolf and Ali Smith, exploring different genres, styles and historical contexts.
The course combines interactive seminars, tutorial Q&A sessions, an academic skills masterclass and expert speakers, alongside visits to Oxford colleges and a university fair to help students think about future study pathways. Students complete independent work during the course and receive personalised academic feedback from their tutor.
At the end of the programme, they are awarded a certificate and a letter of recommendation.
