Explore global development in tutorial-style classes of up to 10 at Oxford University colleges, tackling inequality, globalisation, public health and climate resilience with expert tutors. You’ll also join Q&As and finish with a certificate and personalised tutor recommendation.
Atlas Summer Courses’ International Development summer school is designed for ambitious 16-17-year-olds who want to explore global development issues in a university-style environment. Hosted at Oxford University colleges, the programme brings together small classes of up to 10 students for interactive teaching led by expert tutors.
Students examine the gap between developed and developing countries, the impact of globalisation, and the role of the international community in addressing inequality. The course is shaped around the interests of the group, so tutors can adapt content to current questions and debates about poverty reduction, public health, education, climate resilience, and economic reform.
Learning is built around tutorial-style seminars, Q&A sessions, an academic skills masterclass, expert speakers, and visits to Oxford colleges. Students also have the chance to attend a university fair and explore future pathways.
By the end of the course, participants receive a certificate and a personalised tutor recommendation, supporting future ambitions in development, policy, and global impact.
