Explore history from Ancient Greece and the Renaissance to the First World War in Oxford college seminars, analysing sources, debating and building your own historical arguments. You’ll receive detailed tutor feedback and a personalised letter of recommendation.
Atlas Summer Courses’ History summer school is an academically focused programme for ambitious 13 to 15 year olds. Hosted at colleges of the University of Oxford, it gives students the chance to explore key moments in history, from Ancient Greece and the Renaissance to the First World War, while building confidence in discussion, source analysis and independent thinking.
Teaching takes place in small groups and seminar-style classes, with tutors tailoring sessions to the interests and abilities of the cohort. Students learn how to interpret historical evidence, conduct research and draw conclusions, alongside activities such as debate, teamwork and reflection sessions.
The approach is designed to be engaging, challenging and personalised rather than following a fixed curriculum.
The programme also offers a broader Oxford experience, with museum visits, guided research and a lively social and cultural schedule. Depending on the package selected, students can choose different accommodation and support options, with meals and trips included on many tiers.
Participants receive a certificate of completion, detailed tutor feedback and a personalised letter of recommendation.
Atlas also runs this course for ages 16-17, taught in tutorial format.
