Explore how governments work and conflicts arise through seminar-style classes at colleges of the University of Oxford. Debate current issues, research global politics and take part in simulations and diplomatic role-play.
Atlas Summer Courses’ International Relations and Politics summer school is designed for ambitious 13-15-year-olds who want to explore how governments work, why conflicts arise, and how major global decisions are made. Based at colleges of the University of Oxford, the programme uses a seminar-style format with small classes and expert tutors, creating a focused environment for discussion and enquiry.
Students study political theories, systems of governance and current issues such as war, diplomacy, media influence and the distribution of resources. Lessons are built around debate, analysis and independent thought, with activities including group work, guided research, simulations and diplomatic role-play.
The course is tailored to the interests of each group rather than following a fixed curriculum.
Alongside the academic content, the programme includes a masterclass on teamwork and debating, plus a reflection session to review goals and progress. Different residential and non-residential package options are available, with support, accommodation and travel features varying by tier.
The overall experience aims to build confidence, communication skills and a broader understanding of international affairs.
