Analyse how films, games, news and social platforms shape audiences, then create media in hands-on workshops and collaborative activities. Study at colleges of the University of Cambridge and finish with a certificate, tutor feedback and a personalised letter of recommendation.
Atlas Summer Courses’ Media Studies summer school is an academic summer programme for ambitious 13-15-year-olds, hosted at colleges of the University of Cambridge. It is designed for students who are curious about how modern media shapes the world and want to build stronger analytical, communication and creative skills in a focused small-group setting.
Students explore the history of media, how films, television programmes and games are produced, and how advertising, news and social platforms influence audiences. The course combines discussion, independent study and hands-on creative work, helping learners spot bias, decode messages and think more critically about storytelling and persuasion.
Tutors tailor the teaching to the group’s interests, with seminars, workshops and collaborative activities that make the experience engaging and relevant. Students also benefit from supportive pastoral care, structured social time and the chance to study in Cambridge.
At the end of the course, participants receive a certificate of completion, together with tutor feedback and a personalised letter of recommendation.
