The Autism Summer School is a residential programme run by the University of Bath that gives autistic Year 11 students the chance to experience university life in a supported and safe environment. The event aims to equip students with skills to ease their transition to the next stage of education, offering information, guidance and social activities designed to build confidence for future study.
Overnight accommodation is provided in single occupancy ensuite bedrooms with students placed in a room next to their parent/carer. All meals, information and guidance sessions and social activities are included.
Reasonable travel within the UK can be reimbursed for applicants who meet the University's Widening Participation criteria. During the two-day programme students will take part in a campus tour, talks from the Disability Service Team, sessions on independent living and study skills, wellbeing workshops, group work and optional social activities.
There are sessions for students both with and without their parent/carer and opportunities to speak with autistic current university students. Applications for 2026 are open and offers are made on a rolling basis.
