Join local policing as a volunteer cadet, starting in your own clothes before receiving your uniform at an investment evening. Work with your unit on issues affecting your community and make the Volunteer Police Cadet Oath and Promise.
Volunteer Police Cadets is a youth volunteering opportunity for young people who want to support local policing, build positive relationships and take action on issues affecting their communities. Avon and Somerset Police says cadets should be energetic, enthusiastic and willing to give their time and ideas to volunteering activities.
The recruitment process has three stages. First, you register your interest and wait to be contacted when recruitment opens in your chosen unit. If your application is successful, you and your parents or guardians are invited to an orientation evening and a discussion with the cadet unit leader.
This helps you find out more about the unit before you join.
Once the paperwork is complete, you are given a start date and begin attending cadets in your own clothes. A couple of weeks later, your parents or guardians are invited to an investment evening, where you confirm your commitment to the Volunteer Police Cadet Oath and Promise and receive your uniform.
Recruitment runs annually, generally in early summer.
