Fancy a stellar challenge? Join the BAAO Junior Astro Challenge - a fun online, GCSE-level competition with two brisk 25-minute rounds. Test and sharpen your astro skills, boost your CV and connect with BPhO/BAAO opportunities.

Deadline passed 39 days agoARCHIVEDPrize: Certificates awarded to participating students

The BAAO Junior Astro Challenge is a school-based online astronomy competition organised via the BPhO/BAAO competitions platform. It is aimed primarily at Year 10 students (Years 7-11 encouraged) and is designed to be inclusive and engaging, with questions largely drawn from the GCSE curriculum and general astronomical knowledge.

The competition consists of two 25-minute online sections, each containing 30 questions, intended to be fun rather than a formal exam.

Entries are made by teachers: the competition must be run in school under staff-supervised conditions with active invigilation (students may not search online during the competition). Teachers register their school on the competition platform and receive login details for students; a desktop or laptop is recommended (tablets are not optimised).

Schools outside the UK/Europe are asked to participate through ASDAN/ASEEDER partners.

A registration fee of £20.00 per school (up to 999 entries) applies. Certificates are awarded to recognise student achievement. Teachers can download sample questions and teacher instructions from the competition platform to prepare students and run the event under the stated competition dates.
