The Bali Pre-Vet Medicine and Wildlife Conservation program is a two-week, in-person study-abroad experience run by Loop Abroad. Participants spend one week working at a cat shelter and clinic in Ubud learning and practicing clinical skills - physical exams, blood draws, suturing, sterile technique, diagnostics, injections, and assisting/observing feline spay/neuter surgeries - alongside a teaching veterinarian.
The second week is spent with a sea turtle conservation organisation conducting night patrols, egg collection and incubation, measuring and data collection, and possible visits to marine animal hospitals.
This program is designed for university-aged students interested in veterinary medicine or professional animal care. Participants will be supervised by a teaching veterinarian and receive estimated contact hours (approximately 45 veterinary hours, 25 animal hours, 10 research hours) and a certificate for 80 service hours.
Credit from the University of Findlay is available optionally (additional fee). Group size is capped at 15; housing and most meals are included in tuition. Scholarship options (including Gilman) and other Loop Abroad scholarships are referenced on the programme page.
