Join short online workshops led by graduates who introduce research-linked topics beyond the curriculum. Explore foundations of neural networks, quantum computing, Linux and more, ask questions in live Q&As, and access recordings from past talks afterwards.

The Insight Talk Series from Balliol College is a set of online academic sessions in which Oxford graduates introduce topics linked to their own research. Sessions take the form of short workshops with opportunities for participants to ask questions and deepen their subject knowledge.

The series is intended as super-curricular enrichment to introduce students to new areas of knowledge beyond the school curriculum.

The programme is aimed at Year 12 students and interested Year 11 students. Example topics across the series include foundations of neural networks, introductions to computer programming and quantum computing, the Linux operating system, and applications of mathematics to engineering and technology.

Sessions are free, run online, and recordings from past talks are made available afterwards. To attend, students must complete the online booking form for each talk and book at least 48 hours before the session.
