A dedicated clay-shooting coaching session caps this progression day for young people with shooting experience. Cover shotgun types, cartridges, law, safety and shoot etiquette, then bring your own shotgun if you have one.
This in-person progression day is designed for BASC Junior Members who already have some shooting experience, or who have previously attended a BASC Young Shots introduction day. It offers a structured next step for youngsters who want to build confidence, improve their knowledge and develop their shooting skills in a supported setting.
The day combines classroom-style learning with practical activity. Participants cover shotgun types and calibres, how shotguns and cartridges work, shotgun law, certificate application and shotgun cleaning.
They also take part in practical theory covering safety, quarry identification, range judging, conduct and shoot etiquette.
The session finishes with a dedicated clay shooting coaching element led by a BASC coach. Young people need to bring a packed lunch and suitable outdoor clothing, while other equipment is provided. Participants may bring their own shotgun if they have one.
