Explore why climate action stays slow despite decades of evidence in a hybrid talk with Professor Manfred Lenzen. Unpack denial, collective behaviour and growth-dependent ways of life, then join in person at Queen Square in Bath or watch online from anywhere.

Eco Talks at BRLSI is a monthly talks and films series focused on climate change, conservation and the question of how to build a more sustainable future. This instalment, Degrowing towards an equal world, features Professor Manfred Lenzen and explores how the series aims to help audiences think about the planet’s future in the face of rising environmental challenges.

The talk considers why climate action has remained so slow despite decades of scientific evidence, clear knowledge of the risks of global warming and a growing set of policy and technological solutions. It draws on ideas about denial, collective behaviour and growth-dependent ways of life, asking why the gap between knowledge and action is so persistent.

The event is suitable for anyone interested in sustainability, climate change and the social questions behind environmental change. It is a hybrid event, so you can attend in person at BRLSI’s Queen Square venue in Bath or watch online from anywhere.
