You could wear period costume to engage museum visitors, or help develop and deliver activities for schools and families. Apply to a preferred area and share the dates you’d like to attend.
Beamish Museum offers work placements and work experience opportunities for students across a number of different areas. The placements are designed to give participants practical experience in a museum setting and a chance to learn more about the organisation’s work with visitors, schools and collections.
Students can apply for experience in areas such as Engagement, where they may wear period costume and help engage with visitors, and Learning, where they may support the development and delivery of activities for schools and families. There are also occasional research opportunities for university students, including those studying for a degree, MA or PhD.
Applicants are asked to create an account and complete the Work Placement Application Form, providing their name, address, school and the dates they would like to attend. Beamish will then confirm whether it can accommodate the requested dates and provide further details.
If applicants have a preferred area of the museum, they can include this in their application.
