The UK Bebras Challenge is a nationwide computing competition organised by the Raspberry Pi Foundation that brings computational thinking tasks into schools. It runs each November over a two-week window and offers age-appropriate, interactive problems that are automatically marked.
The activity is intended for school classes and groups, supporting teachers to deliver an engaging, curriculum-linked experience for pupils.
The challenge is open to young people aged 6 to 19 and is accessible for a wide range of abilities; tasks are categorised by difficulty so every student has the opportunity to succeed. Students typically take the challenge in a supervised classroom setting using desktops, laptops or tablets, with each student given 45 minutes to complete their tasks.
Teachers register on behalf of their school as the main coordinator and can enrol groups or the entire school. Home educated students are also welcome and can be registered via a dedicated form. The challenge is free to enter and participants receive certificates based on participation and performance.
