Spend time with hospital patients living with dementia, offering conversation, reassurance and companionship. Bring your interests to the ward through music, games, puzzles, reading or simply listening - and help make hospital visits feel calmer and less isolating.
Forget-Me-Not volunteering is a hospital-based volunteering opportunity that supports people living with dementia, their families and the staff caring for them. Volunteers spend time with patients on the ward, offering reassurance, conversation and companionship to help make hospital visits feel calmer and less isolating.
The role can include talking, reminiscing, reading, sharing news, playing games, solving puzzles and bringing in calming or engaging activities. Volunteers are encouraged to use their own interests and skills too, whether that is music, singing, crafting, nail painting or simply chatting and listening.
The aim is to brighten someone’s day and help them feel connected.
The service also includes a Dementia Champion programme for under-18s, combining learning about dementia, volunteering on a hospital ward and support to raise awareness in the community. In addition, the charity offers dementia awareness training for community groups and clubs outside the hospitals.
Sessions run regularly
