Welcome visitors to College Lake Nature Reserve from its visitor centre and kiosk, sharing information about walks, activities, events and wildlife. Bring a friendly manner rather than expert knowledge, and volunteer for at least one half-day shift a month, usually on a Tuesday or Thursday.

Visitor Welcome Volunteers help provide the first friendly point of contact for people arriving at College Lake Nature Reserve. Based at the visitor centre and kiosk, the role sits at the heart of BBOWT’s conservation community and supports the smooth running of the reserve for day visitors.

Volunteers assist staff and other volunteers by giving general information about College Lake, including walks, activities, events and wildlife. It is a public-facing role, so it suits people who enjoy chatting to others, welcoming visitors, and helping them get the most from their visit.

You do not need to be a wildlife expert; enthusiasm and a warm, helpful manner matter most.

The minimum commitment is a monthly half-day shift, usually on Tuesday or Thursday, with the option to volunteer more if you wish. To arrange an informal interview, applicants should email BBOWT’s volunteering team.
