Submit a video audition, then progress through a semi-final at Bradfield College towards a live concert final in Windsor. Compete with brass and woodwind players in your age category, get feedback from judges, and vie for the overall winner’s trophy and a high-profile performance opportunity.
Berkshire Young Musician of the Year is an annual competition for brass and woodwind players run by Berkshire Music Trust in partnership with Windsor Festival and Bradfield College. It gives young musicians the chance to showcase their talent, receive feedback from judges and compete alongside others of a similar age.
The competition follows a three-stage process. Entrants submit a video for the first round, successful candidates progress to a semi-final at Bradfield College, and the live concert final takes place at The Old Court in Windsor.
If you need help filming your entry, there are also optional filming slots at Reading Music Centre.
There are three age categories: junior, intermediate and senior. All entries receive feedback, semi-finalists receive feedback and a certificate, and finalists receive judges’ feedback. Category winners receive a trophy or plaque, while the overall winner receives the Berkshire Young Musician of the Year trophy, a certificate and a high-profile performance opportunity.
