Work through GCSE science command words and see how they change what examiners expect. Match your answers to the marks available, tackle worked examples and try exam-style questions with feedback.

This in-person masterclass is designed to help GCSE science students improve how they answer exam questions. The focus is on command words - the words in a question that tell you whether to state, describe, explain, compare, calculate, evaluate or justify - and how those words change what the examiner is looking for.

Students will work through common command words, look at how to match the length and detail of an answer to the marks available, and avoid typical mistakes such as writing the right science in the wrong form. The session also includes worked examples and opportunities to try exam-style questions with feedback.

By the end of the masterclass, participants should be better able to spot command words quickly, structure answers to fit the mark scheme, and understand exactly what kind of response earns credit in GCSE science exams.
