Research local issues, draft press releases and see how an MP’s office runs through a constituency work-experience placement. Depending on your age and ability, you could also accompany the MP to meetings or events in Parliament or locally.

Bob Blackman offers work experience opportunities for students from his constituency, giving young people a first-hand insight into local politics and the work of an MP. The placement is designed to help participants build confidence, develop practical skills and learn how a parliamentary office operates.

During the experience, students may take part in a range of office and political tasks, depending on their age and ability. These can include researching issues, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, assisting with office duties, answering queries from constituents by phone or email, and helping with casework.

Students may also accompany the MP to meetings or events in Parliament or in the constituency. Interested students should contact the office to enquire about a placement.
