Spend an academic year building work skills through supported placements in areas from catering and retail to rides, security and administration. Job coaches support you alongside classroom learning in maths and English, with travel training included.

Bridge College’s Supported Internship programme helps young people with additional needs move from education into paid work. It is designed for students who have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) and want to build the skills, confidence and independence needed for employment, with extra support in place throughout the placement.

The programme currently offers opportunities with Sodexo and Gulliver’s World. At Gulliver’s World, interns can experience supported work in areas such as retail and stores, catering, rides, park care, hotel work, upkeep and grounds.

At Sodexo, the placements are based on site and can include health and safety, food preparation, security and administration.

Interns are supported by Bridge College staff and job coaches, alongside classroom-based learning that focuses on employability, maths and English. The programme lasts for one academic year and includes travel training, therapeutic input and preparation for life in work.

Its aim is to help young people develop meaningful skills and secure paid employment at the end of the placement.
