Bristol Explorers is a two-week pre-GCSE residential programme for students aged 13-914, delivered on the Sidcot School campus near Bristol. The course uses a cross-curricular, project-based approach (CLIL) to strengthen academic English while covering topics that prepare learners for GCSE-level study.
Typical learning hours are ~30 per week and class sizes are capped at 15. The academic programme is organised into four daily learning blocks (STEAM in Action; Social Studies & Global Perspectives; Communicate with Confidence; Movement & Wellbeing).
Lessons link Science, Geography, Citizenship, English, Media and Health to build critical thinking, teamwork and communication skills. Leadership development is embedded throughout and participants earn a CPD-recognised leadership certificate.
The residential experience includes full-board accommodation, on-site facilities (science labs, sports hall, swimming pool, art and music classrooms), and a packed activities and trips programme (Bristol landmarks, Cheddar Gorge, outdoor adventure, and day trips to London and other historic cities). Parents are supported by 24/7 pastoral care and organised Heathrow transfers during specified hours.
