This webinar, organised by the British Ecological Society's Forest Ecology Special Interest Group, brings together international researchers and practitioners to explore the role of urban forests, trees and green infrastructure in creating greener, more resilient cities. Presentations and discussion will cover ecological functions, ecosystem services, and the integration of ecological knowledge with urban planning and governance.
Speakers will include academics and practitioners with experience in urban forestry and tropical urban ecology, offering case studies and perspectives on managing and conserving urban green spaces in rapidly urbanising environments. The session aims to highlight practical nature-based pathways, interdisciplinary collaboration, and policy-relevant insights to support biodiversity, climate resilience and human well-being in urban landscapes.
Format: live webinar on Zoom with time for Q&A. Intended audience includes researchers, university students, practitioners, policymakers and professionals working in urban ecology, forestry, biodiversity conservation and sustainable urban development.
