Test your neuroscience knowledge in a proctored online regional multiple-choice round - you can register independently, without a school or teacher. Explore neurons, memory, sensory systems and neurological disease, with top performers advancing to a tougher national round and potentially a live international pathway.

Prize: Opportunity to represent the UK at the International Neuroscience Olympiad for successful competitors.

The British Neuroscience Olympiad 2027 is a competition for secondary school students who want to test their knowledge of the brain and explore neuroscience in greater depth. It offers students the chance to go beyond the classroom and tackle topics such as neurons, neurotransmitters, memory, sensory systems, neuroanatomy and neurological disease.

Students can register independently, so school or teacher registration is not required.

The competition begins with an online regional round, where students complete a proctored multiple-choice test within a set window. Top performers progress to a more demanding national round, and the strongest competitors can advance further into a live international pathway.

The Olympiad is designed to challenge ambitious young scientists, reward independent study and support students who are considering future study in neuroscience, medicine, psychology or biomedical sciences.
