Broadway Arts Festival’s annual open art competition is open to artists working in any medium, including painting, drawing, pastels, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and glass. Entries are judged by a panel of specialists, with selected finalists progressing to an exclusive selling exhibition.

Artists from across the UK can enter, and there is also a separate local artist prize for entrants based in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire or Warwickshire. The finalists’ exhibition takes place at Bretforton Theatrebarn and is open to the public free of charge.

It runs from 25 September to 4 October 2026, with daily opening hours and a private view for finalists. The competition includes several prizes, led by a £1000 main award, alongside category prizes and other special awards.

Entries must be original artwork and submitted online by the stated deadline.

  • Anyone aged 16 or over can enter.
  • Any artist from across the UK can enter.
  • Entries must be original artwork; limited edition Giclee prints are not allowed.
  • The maximum size for all framed work is 1 metre x 1 metre (including the frame), except sculpture.
  • To qualify for the local artist prize category, artists must reside in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire or Warwickshire.
  • Unlimited entries are permitted, but only one entry per artist can progress to the finals and exhibition.
