BUNAC Summer Camp USA is a paid summer work experience in America for 18-30 year olds. Successful applicants spend the summer living and working at one of 800+ camps across the USA, usually in roles such as Activity Counsellor, General Counsellor, or Additional Needs Counsellor.
Camp work includes supervising campers, leading activities, helping with day-to-day camp life, and supporting children and young adults in a busy residential or day-camp setting. The program is designed for people who want an overseas summer job with strong travel and personal-development benefits.
First-timers can earn a minimum of USD $2,300 for the summer, with meals and accommodation included at camp. The experience is also framed as a CV-building opportunity because it develops leadership, teamwork, confidence, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Applicants must be eligible for a J-1 cultural exchange visa and be able to travel to the USA before 20 June. BUNAC supports participants through the application, camp consultation, sponsorship paperwork, and visa guidance.
The program runs annually, with applications typically opening year-round and closing around March or April for each summer.
