Work through four substantial sessions led by Dr Peter Vardy, tackling meta-ethics, utilitarianism, Kantian ethics and the ethics of exploitation. Test ideas against real-life scenarios and thought experiments, then sharpen your arguments in group discussion and a formal debate.
Ends and Means is a live conference for AS/A Level Religious Studies students, led by Dr Peter Vardy. It is designed to support the compulsory Ethics paper and to help students deepen their understanding of key ideas in ethics and philosophy of religion, while also strengthening analysis, evaluation and academic judgement.
Across the day, students take part in four substantial sessions covering meta-ethics, utilitarianism, Kantian ethics, and the ethics of exploitation. The programme combines clear teaching with real-life scenarios, thought experiments, group discussion and a formal debate, so that students can apply ideas actively rather than simply listen to content.
The event is built to enrich classroom learning and make the subject engaging, accessible and intellectually challenging. Dr Vardy brings extensive experience in Religious Studies, philosophy and values education, and the sessions are tailored to the needs of A Level students preparing for exams and essay-based work.
