Wondering what makes us human? Join Candle Conferences' live day on Human Nature - expert-led sessions with interactive activities to deepen your Ethics knowledge, sharpen essay skills and boost AS/A Level exam confidence. Explore, evaluate and excel.

Human Nature? is a live day-conference aimed at AS/A Level Religious Studies students studying Ethics. The event is designed to cover content specified by English examination boards for compulsory Ethics papers, to extend and deepen student understanding, and to strengthen skills in analysis, evaluation and academic judgement.

Sessions combine expert exposition with activities to prepare students for essay-writing and examinations.

The day features four taught and interactive sessions led by Dr Peter Vardy: Natural Law, Conscience, Utilitarianism and Situation Ethics. Each session includes historical and contemporary perspectives, comparative evaluation, and group or whole-class activities (including debates and essay-focused exercises) to help students apply theories to moral questions covered in A Level syllabuses.

The conference is delivered as single-day events across multiple venues in 2025-26 (London, York, Coventry). It is intended for AS/A Level Ethics students and their accompanying teachers; tickets are booked via the Candle Conferences website.
