The Classical Association in Northern Ireland (CANI) presents a public lecture by Prof Stephen Hodkinson (University of Nottingham) titled "Spartan Warriors? Modern Myths and Ancient Realities. " The talk will examine how modern perceptions of Spartan warriors have been shaped by myth and later interpretation, and will contrast those popular images with the historical and archaeological evidence from the ancient Greek world.

The event takes place on Wednesday 14 January 2026 at 6:45pm in room 01/003, 27 University Square, Queen's University Belfast. Attendees are asked to check CANI's social media for any updates.
