This one-day insight programme is designed for students who are thinking about applying to medical school and want to build their CV while exploring a specialist surgical field. It gives participants a closer look at cardiothoracic surgery and the route into medical training.
Students are shown how to complete an application, take part in taster interviews and spend time shadowing consultants and registrars on the wards. The programme is intended to give a realistic sense of the skills, roles and working environment involved in this area of medicine.
It is aimed at students who want to deepen their understanding of clinical careers and learn more about the experiences that can support a future application to medical school.
