Curious how a real medical career feels? Join UT Austin’s three-week Careers in Medicine Academy to build hands-on skills - suturing, imaging diagnostics, CPR/AED and first-aid certification - tackle case-based learning and boost your uni/career prospects with a recognised completion certificate.

The Careers in Medicine Academy at the University of Texas at Austin is an immersive summer program designed for high-school students (ages 14-18) interested in healthcare careers. Over a three-week session students take part in case-based learning and hands-on practical skills training - including suturing, biopsying, vital signs assessment and diagnostic practice using MRI/CT/ultrasound material - and receive CPR/AED and first aid certification.

The program awards a course completion certificate and a letter of recognition; some credit-bearing classes provide grade reports and transcript instructions.

Programs are delivered on campus at UT Austin and combine small interactive classes, simulated patient interactions, lab work and field trips. Residential (boarding) and day options are available; residential tuition includes housing, two meals per day (varies by program), activities, on-campus supervision and some transportation for included activities.

International students receive visa support, airport assistance and international medical/health insurance as described. A supplemental materials fee ($595) and mandatory international registration fees for non-U.

S. residents apply. Prospective students must complete the Summer Institute Application to apply.
