Spend one to five days exploring community healthcare, from rehabilitation nursing and speech and language therapy to dentistry, physiotherapy and quality improvement. An Allied Health Professional summer school offers hands-on NHS experience in podiatry and speech and language therapy.
Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust offers work experience placements for young people and adult learners who want to explore careers in community healthcare. These placements provide an insight into NHS professions and the wider working world, helping applicants build knowledge, confidence and understanding of future career routes.
Placements typically last between one and five days and take place in both clinical and non-clinical settings. Example teams include dentistry, nursing in rehabilitation wards, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, orthoptics, care homes, dietetics, business support and quality improvement.
Applications are shortlisted on the strength of the form and the applicant’s suitability for the placement.
The page also highlights an Allied Health Professional summer school for 16 to 18 year olds, delivered with The King’s Trust, which gives hands-on experience of NHS roles. This programme focuses on helping young people gain skills, experience and opportunities that may support future healthcare careers, with particular emphasis on podiatry and speech and language therapy.
