Channel 4’s free online 4Skills Work Experience programme gives young people across the UK a chance to explore what it is like to work in TV, broadcasting and the wider creative industries. Participants complete true-to-life tasks created by Channel 4 teams, discover a range of creative careers, and hear directly from employees about what happens behind the scenes when great content is made.
The programme is designed so learners can work through it at their own pace, with no time limit.
The experience begins with two introductory modules, before unlocking further Insight and Deep Dive modules. These cover areas such as Broadcasting, Post Production, Editorial, Operations and Creative, and include example roles like Commissioning, Production, Sales, Legal and Compliance, Audience Insight, Events Assistant, Edit Assistant, Production Coordinator and Researcher.
It is open to anyone aged 11+ in the UK who is curious about TV and the careers behind the programmes they enjoy. The programme provides useful insight and experience, but it does not guarantee employment.
