A free online toolkit takes you from conservation campaigning and volunteering to planning your own project, with guides on fundraising, craftivism and writing to an MP. Reflect on your progress, then choose to submit your project for recognition through the Champions in Conservation Award.
Chester Zoo’s Conservation Changemakers’ Toolkit is a free online resource designed to help young people take practical action for wildlife and the environment. It is aimed at young changemakers who want to turn ideas into action and make a positive difference in their communities and in the wider conservation world.
The toolkit is organised into three parts. Module 1 introduces conservation and social action, with activities and guides on campaigning, protesting, volunteering, fundraising, craftivism and making small sustainable changes in daily life.
Module 2 focuses on planning, offering project planning tools, how-to guides, wellbeing support and extra resources such as public speaking, writing to an MP and creating a conservation podcast. Module 3 helps users reflect on what they have learned, celebrate their progress and, if they choose, submit their project for recognition through the Champions in Conservation Award.
The resource also includes a leader’s guide for adults working with groups, alongside videos, a reflective journal and a quiz to help young people choose the right kind of project. It is designed to build confidence, teamwork, organisation and other transferable skills while supporting young people to develop and share their own changemaking projects.
