Restore the River Chess by maintaining woody structures, testing water quality and planting flag iris. No experience is needed, and waders are provided for this hands-on conservation session.
Join Chiltern Rangers CIC for a hands-on volunteer session focused on restoring the River Chess. The activity is part of the Green Wycombe initiative and gives participants the chance to support local environmental conservation work alongside the rangers.
The session includes practical river restoration tasks such as maintaining woody structures that help the river flow, testing water quality, and planting flag iris. It is an in-person activity and no experience is needed, so it is suitable for first-time volunteers as well as those already interested in conservation.
Participants are asked to meet at Restore Hope Latimer Car Park before walking to the site. You should bring gloves, a packed lunch, plenty of fluids, weather-appropriate clothing, and a spare set of clothes in case you get wet.
Waders will be provided, and organisers advise wearing long trousers, layers, and waterproofs.
