Curious how Christianity and Islam shaped each other? Join University of Edinburgh's free four-week MOOC to explore key histories, compare Bible and Qur'an narratives, and build skills and critical thinking for your university and careers in policy, faith or academia.

This free online course from the University of Edinburgh's School of Divinity introduces learners to the academic study of Christian-Muslim relations. Over four weeks you will explore key historical moments, compare the roles and narratives of the Bible and the Qurn, and examine theological debates and areas of commonality and disagreement between Christian and Muslim communities.

The course unpacks political and ideological contexts that have shaped inter-religious encounters and uses case studies (including virtual tours) to show how these relationships have influenced culture, art, and public space. Learning activities include videos, readings, and discussion to promote engagement with peers and educators.

Taught by staff at the School of Divinity (including Dr Shadaab Rahemtulla and Dr Joshua Ralston, with contributions from Mona Siddiqui and Salam Rassi), the course is aimed at the general public, prospective postgraduate students, and religious leaders interested in deepening their understanding of Christian-Muslim interactions. Enrolment is free via the Universitys link or the FutureLearn course page.
