This Level 2 apprenticeship places you with the City of London Corporation's City Gardens team, working on the maintenance and improvement of award-winning public gardens in the City of London. Day-to-day duties include grass cutting, pruning, planting, irrigation, weeding, clearing and maintenance of hard surfaces, basic repair and installation of small landscape features, use of hand and powered tools, litter clearance and supporting seasonal bedding and planting projects.
You will be employed full-time (35 hours per week: Monday-Thursday 07:30-15:30; Friday 07:30-15:00) and will attend college one day per week as part of the City of London Apprenticeship Programme. The programme includes 6 hours per week of supported study time and covers practical and theoretical training, health & safety, plant identification, basic landscape construction, turfing, pest and disease awareness and safe use of equipment.
The apprenticeship starts Monday 5 January 2026 and runs for two years, with progression opportunities to a Level 3 apprenticeship or permanent roles where available.
The role is based at Guildhall, Gresham Street, London (EC2P 2EJ). Successful applicants must meet the essential GCSE requirements and pass a Basic DBS check. The employer participates in the Disability Confident scheme; a fair proportion of interviews will be offered to applicants with a disability or long-term health condition who meet the essential requirements.
