Start your journey into civil engineering with the Civil Engineering Senior Technician apprenticeship delivered by University Centre Weston (UCW). This Level 4 apprenticeship allows you to earn while you learn and develops the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to propose and deliver civil engineering solutions.
The programme covers coordination, technical planning, design, construction, management, maintenance and dismantling of the built environment, and considers infrastructure such as transportation, water and waste management, and marine and coastal engineering.
Training is delivered in partnership with employers and includes on-campus teaching combined with employer-based work placement. The programme is assessed through an independent end assessment once the employer, training provider and apprentice agree the apprentice is ready.
Typical entry requirements are five GCSEs (including Maths, English and a Science) or completion of a Level 2 apprenticeship, though individual employers may set their own criteria. The apprenticeship prepares learners for roles supervising technical tasks, contributing to design, selecting materials and equipment, and ensuring health, safety and welfare on engineering projects.
Intake information: the course lists a February 2026 start. For further details and application steps, contact UCW or view the course page on the UCW website.
