The Classical Association Mythology Competition invites school students and home-educated learners in Key Stages 2 and 3 (ages 7 14) to respond creatively to set mythological prompts for 2026. Students may submit Creative Writing (play, retelling, poem or other written response), Art (painting, sculpture, collage or other handcrafted artwork) or Animation (silent, spoken or sung; animated or using figures/puppets).

Submissions should follow the specific format requirements for each category and all entries must be in English.

Creative Writing entries have a 500-word limit and must be submitted as a Word document; handwritten or scanned writing will not be judged. Art should be submitted as . jpeg images showing all relevant views and must be 100% original, hand-crafted work (digital art will not be judged).

Animations should be submitted as an unlisted YouTube link, should not use real people, and must be no longer than 5 minutes. Schools may submit up to 10 entries per Key Stage and each entry must be accompanied by an entry form with a brief description of the work.

Entries should be emailed with the entry form to [email protected] by the stated deadline. Judges will notify schools and/or parents by email about prize-winning entrants and book tokens will be posted.

Note that the organisers reserve the right to publish winning entries on the website; if you do not want work published, indicate this clearly on the entry form.

  • Open to school students or those being home-educated in the UK and worldwide who are in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 6, ages 7 11) or Key Stage 3 (Years 7 9, ages 11 14).
  • Entries must be individual student submissions (no group entries).
  • All entries must be in English.
  • No AI may be used in entries; the responsible adult confirms this on the entry form.
  • Schools may submit up to 10 entries per Key Stage (combination across formats allowed).
  • Creative Writing entries must be submitted as a Word document (max 500 words); handwritten/scanned pieces will not be judged.
  • Art entries must be original, hand-drawn or crafted; submit as .jpeg with views of all angles and the work shown the right way up; the student should not be visible in photographs; digital art will not be judged.
  • Animation entries should be submitted as an unlisted YouTube link and should not use real people; max length 5 minutes.
  • Each entry must be labelled with the students name (only first names should appear on work if publication is not desired, note this on the entry form).
