Shadow clinical staff across a range of NHS settings, observing how nursing and Allied Health Professionals work rather than carrying out hands-on duties. Placements are supervised throughout, giving you a view of teams working together to deliver care.
This observational shadowing programme is designed for school or college students who are interested in careers in nursing or the Allied Health Professions. It offers a first-hand view of clinical work within the NHS and is intended to build confidence, knowledge and understanding of healthcare careers, while also supporting future applications for university or other healthcare roles.
Participants observe staff in a range of clinical settings rather than carrying out hands-on duties. The experience is supervised at all times and placements are arranged across a variety of departments, depending on business needs.
Students can gain insight into the skills, behaviours and professional standards expected within the NHS, and see how different teams work together to deliver care.
Applications are reviewed through a shortlisting process because demand is high and places are limited. Successful applicants may not receive their first-choice area, but the placement is intended to provide a broad and meaningful introduction to clinical professions across the Trust.
