Fancy learning under a Michelin-trained Head Chef? Join The Ormond Hotel as a Commis Chef Level 2 apprentice in Tetbury-build real kitchen skills, master cooking, plating and food safety through hands-on work and off-the-job training to kickstart your culinary career.
This is a Commis Chef Level 2 apprenticeship at The Ormond Hotel in Tetbury. You will assist in the preparation of varied items, learn cooking techniques, meal presentation and food safety, and be mentored by a skilled, Michelin-trained Head Chef.
Most of the apprenticeship is workplace-based, giving hands-on experience across larder, vegetable and other food preparation, cooking, portioning, plating and cleaning techniques.
The apprenticeship includes off-the-job training delivered by Gloucestershire College towards the Commis Chef Level 2 standard. The role is full-time (38 hours per week, five days, straight shifts within opening hours) and starts on Monday 5 January 2026.
Training covers knife skills, preparing meat, fish, vegetables, sauces, pastry and desserts, food safety and allergen procedures, stock control, team working, and professional communication.
Essential qualifications: GCSEs in English and Maths (grade 1). The employer suggests sharing any other relevant qualifications or industry experience so the apprenticeship can be adjusted. Company benefits include 28 days holiday (pro rata) and possible uniform provision.
