Orchestral conductor Sinéad Hayes brings a unique creative perspective to conducting symphonic and opera repertoire, forged from a decade of conducting the music of living composers in Ireland and further afield. A natural storyteller, Hayes is passionate about sharing the magic of orchestral music with audiences from every walk of life and invites deep and meaningful engagement with the music, its stories and its performers.
The workshop will focus on Hayes' "music first" approach to conducting, exploring interpretive choices, rehearsal technique, and ways to communicate musical narrative and gesture to ensembles. Participants can expect a mix of discussion, demonstration, and practical conducting-related activities designed to deepen understanding of orchestral and operatic repertoire and performer collaboration.
The event takes place in the Gillen Room at Maynooth University on Tuesday 3 March 2026 from 14:00 to 17:00. Booking is required to secure attendance - participants are asked to scan the QR code provided by the organisers to register.
