Apply NowCurious how young makers tackle fake news? Join ConnectFutures at STEAMhouse on 10 July to watch a student-made film, hear sector speakers, and connect with organisations—learn media literacy, build digital citizenship skills and meet the creators.
ConnectFutures is hosting a public launch of a media literacy video created by 30 Birmingham-based students aged 14-16. The event brings together the student creators, representatives from partner organisations and sector speakers to showcase the film and share the students' learning about media literacy, fake news and digital citizenship.
The in-person event takes place at STEAMhouse, Birmingham (Belmont Row) on Friday 10 July 2026 from 10:00-13:00. The programme includes registration and refreshments, short presentations from Birmingham City University, Ofcom and partner organisations, the video launch with an interview and youth panel, a session from Loudmouth Theatre, contributions from Birmingham City Council and the Electoral Commission, an audience Q&A and a finger lunch to close.
This event is aimed at educators, partners and the public who want to hear young people's perspectives on digital resilience, misinformation, online behaviour and democratic engagement. Lunch will be provided; attendees should register/book via the Eventbrite listing (see source URL) for tickets and full event information.
