Curious how art shapes identity? Join Courtauld Summer University online (29 June–3 July) to explore art history, build analytical skills, and connect with Courtauld academics and PhD researchers — perfect for Year 12s preparing A-levels or university applications. Apply by 14 May 2026.
Courtauld Summer University offers two targeted short programmes for Year 12 / college / home-educated students interested in History of Art. For 2026 the Institute runs an online programme, "Art and Identity" (Monday 29 June - Friday 3 July), which includes daily morning sessions, lunchtime lectures and live discussion classes led by Courtauld academics and current PhD students.
The online programme is designed both for students new to art history and for those studying History of Art A-Level/EPQ. The in-person programme, "Discover Art History" (Wednesday 8 - Friday 10 July 2026), is held at the Courtauld Gallery (Somerset House) and is non-residential.
Over three days participants explore the Courtauld collection and local artworks, develop visual analysis and critical thinking skills, and gain insight into undergraduate study at the Courtauld. The in-person programme is reserved for students not currently studying History of Art A-Level/EPQ.
Both programmes are free and aim to support students-particularly those meeting widening participation criteria-to consider applying to university.
