A placement usually lasts a week, taking you across an arts centre’s teams: explore marketing, sales, education, front of house, finance and technical work, and help with events.
The Courtyard offers a work experience placement for secondary school and higher education students. The placement is usually a week long, although it can be adapted where needed and if possible. It is designed to give students a realistic insight into how an arts centre operates and the variety of roles involved in its day-to-day running.
During the placement, students may spend time in Marketing, Sales, Education, Front of House, Finance and Technical departments, as well as helping with events. The aim is to show how different teams work together and to give students a broader understanding of the practical and creative work involved in running a cultural venue.
There are a limited number of placements available throughout the year, and all applications are reviewed before acceptance. Applicants are encouraged to show the form to a school or college careers adviser before submitting it.
If needed, students can contact The Courtyard by email or phone with questions about a potential placement.
