Design a building within a garden setting using measured line drawings, perspective sketches, hand-drawn plans and elevations, then create pencil renderings that clearly communicate interior and exterior ideas. Build practical drawing skills and creative confidence while exploring pathways in architecture and design-led careers.
This workshop introduces students to technical drawing for design, with a focus on measured line drawings and realistic rendering. Participants will work through the process of designing a building within a garden setting, building skills in sketching in perspective, hand-drawing plans and elevations, and creating pencil renderings that communicate interior and exterior ideas clearly.
The course is designed to develop both practical drawing ability and creative confidence. It also gives students insight into possible future pathways, particularly in architecture and other design-led or making-based careers.
The workshop is run by experienced tutor Sarah Hocombe, who brings professional illustration and teaching experience to the programme.
As part of The Creative Dimension Trust’s accreditation scheme, longer workshops can lead to graded feedback recognising transferable skills such as manual dexterity, visual sensitivity, organisation, focus and teamwork. The workshop is intended for motivated young people who want to develop their skills, work hard throughout the course, and gain experience relevant to creative and technical careers.
