CSI: Forensic Science for High Schoolers is an immersive summer program hosted on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor for students aged 14-18. The program offers 2- and 3-week residential (boarding) and day options during June and July, providing hands-on exposure to crime scene investigation techniques in a university environment.
Participants engage in practical laboratory work and field-style investigations including fingerprint and fiber analysis, basic firearms/arson/explosives overview, crime scene diagramming, photography, and evidence preservation. Instruction emphasizes teamwork, critical analysis, and scientific reporting; students complete a capstone crime scene investigation report as part of the course and receive instructor feedback and a Course Completion Certificate.
Some courses are credit-bearing and provide grade reports/transcript instructions where applicable. Tuition typically includes academic tuition, housing for residential participants, meals (varies by program type), on-campus activities, and included transportation.
Additional fees include a supplemental lab materials fee of $95 (USD) and mandatory international registration fees for students living outside the U. S. Airfare and some personal expenses are not included.
Applicants must submit the Summer Institute Application and follow the enrolment steps (deposit, enrolment form, final balance) as outlined by the admissions team.
