The Cybernetics Conversation 2026 is a three-day, in-person event that aims to stimulate conversation, exploration and learning about the breadth and depth of cybernetics in theory and practice. It is organised by The Cybernetics Society and embraces many dimensions of the field including robotics, AI, design, organisation, art, music and the philosophies of cybernetics and systems.
The programme is interactive and designed for attendees to engage directly with speakers and shape their own learning pathways. The event runs from 1 July to 3 July 2026 at the Centre of Information Management, Loughborough University, Leicestershire, England.
Planned sessions include a welcome and scene setting (1 July, 11:00), afternoon sessions celebrating Stafford Beer and health-care systems (1 July, 14:00-17:00), sessions on accountability and information/cybernetics (2 July, 09:30 and 13:30), and ethics and AI reflections (3 July, 09:30). Lunch and refreshments are provided during the event; accommodation is not included and participants are encouraged to book local hotels or campus accommodation.
Car parking is available on site (chargeable). Participants may register for one day or the full event. Discounted registration rates are available to Cybernetics Society members, CIM & Loughborough University staff, and students.
